F.A.Q.
What time is the ceremony?
There will be a brief ceremony Saturday, August 17th at 4:00 PM followed by dinner and dancing. Feel free to arrive earlier in the day to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and settle in if you’re staying the night.
What should we wear?
Since the ceremony will be held outdoors in August, please wear something comfortable. However, since it’s a wedding, remember that we’ll be hanging onto the pictures for the rest of our lives; please dress how you’d like to be remembered. One thing we ask that you do not wear is perfume or cologne.
What’s for dinner?
After the ceremony, we’ll have a taco bar and cupcakes! There will be vegetarian and gluten-free options. If you have any dietary concerns, please contact us to let us know. We want to make sure everyone is happy and well fed!
What will we eat the rest of the week?
If you’re staying beyond the wedding day, meal teams will be creating delicious dinners each night. (Contact us if you’d like to volunteer to be on a meal team.) There will also be a variety of things available for breakfast, lunches, and snacks on your own.
If I stay for the week, where will I sleep?
The group center that we reserved includes several cabins with bunk-beds. The bunk-beds have mattresses, but you will need to bring your own bedding. We also have a lot of extra bedding, so if it’s difficult for you to bring your own, let us know in advance and we’ll likely be able to help you out. Check out the park facilities tab for pictures of the cabins.
How do I reserve my cabin?
We have reserved the entire group center already so the only thing you have to do is go to our RSVP page and let us know how many nights you’re staying. If you’re staying beyond the first night, you’ll see a price per person listed. You can bring a check to the wedding or even better mail it to us at 4005 Park Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55407.
Are there other lodging options?
Absolutely! There are a number of hotel options in Rochester, MN and Winona, MN. Both are about 40 minutes away from Whitewater. If you’d like something close with no frills there is a motel in St Charles, MN just 10 minutes up the road.
Should I bring bug repellent?
While MN might be known for its mosquitoes, Whitewater State park is the one place famous for having none! You’re welcome to bring some if you’d like, but we don’t think you’ll need it. You may, however, wish to bring sunscreen!
Who can I call if I get lost or have last minute questions?
Not us. There is no cell phone reception or Internet access at the camp ground. However, there are park staff available from 9am – 4pm at 507-932-3007. You can also contact us with questions through Thursday the 15th right before the wedding with any questions or concerns. Please plan ahead!
I’m flying into Minneapolis. Does anybody have space in their car to give me a ride?
We’ve setup a rideshare spreadsheet on Google Docs for everyone to coordinate space in their cars. Anyone can edit it.
